This is a cause i feel passionate for at the moment!
I learned about the Rehabilitation Through the Arts program when I saw the movie “Sing Sing” in 2024. Much like many others, this film really with stuck with me in multiple ways. This past summer, while I was reading the book “The Body Keeps the Score” I found myself reflecting on this movie, my summer at Stella Adler, and some of my most important values as a human.

RTA provides transformation through bringing theater programs to incarcerated individuals. Their goal is to “unlock potential and rebuild lives.” The resources they provide help break generational cycles of incarceration in families. Over 60% of prisoners return after being released… less than 3% of RTA participants return to prison again. We can literally see the proof of this program working in their statistics.
We all see first hand every day how the arts can transform people. It can provide life changing healing for those who are in need of rehabilitation, no matter what kind. Theater and the arts bring medicine that no drug, surgeon, or product can provide, and the journey this foundation brings to so many is so essential for humans.
